Simi Valley Forklift Parts

Simi Valley lies in Southeast Ventura County approximately 27 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. As of December 2005, the city had a total population of 126,329, making it the 3rd largest city in Ventura County. It was incorporated in 1969 and has a total area of 42 square miles.

It is believed that the cities name first originated from the Chumash Indian Village Himeji. Originally, the city was separated into two cities: Simi and Tapo. The Indians who settled in the city were very clever. They used the acorns from the Coast Live Oak (the cities official tree) and the rosehips from the California Wild Rose (the cities official flower) to help supplement their diet.

One of the largest land grants in history was made in 1795 to the city of Simi Valley. A total of 100 000 acres of land (known as El Rancho San Jose de Garcia de Simi) were granted to Santiago Pico and Luis Pena by Governor Diego de Borica of Spanish California.

The city has two main industries located on opposite sides of the city. In the east, the primary industry is machinery and tools with a total of 69 firms. The metal industry is in the west and has a total of 51 firms. Other industries that are littered throughout the cities industrial sectors are Apparel/Textiles, Food, Lumber/Wood, Plastic Materials, and Minerals.

Since the mid 1990ís, the biggest division of the Bank of America (Formally the Countrywide Home Loans) has been headquarter in Simi Valley. The corporation has three main buildings throughout the city. One is located in a building just off Madera Road, which was once home to Bugle Boy, an apparel company. Another is located on Tapo Canyon, and the other is located on First Street.

In 2006, The Volkswagen of America Design centre moved from Simi Valley to Santa Monica. During its run in Simi Valley, the company hired a few automotive designers that are now international recognized for their skill. Jay Mays (now VP Design for Ford and Freeman Thomas) and Thomas (who helped co design the original Audi TT) used to call Simi Valley home. The space has since been developed into an industrial complex.
