San Bernardino Forklift Parts
San Bernardino is a city known for its beautiful scenery and ethnic diversity. The combination of influences from emigrants, ranging from Native Americans to Spanish Missionaries, has created a city that is interesting and culturally diverse. The city was named by Father Dumetz, a Franciscan missionary, in 1810. The city itself is located west of the lower desert and south of the San Bernardino mountains. It is currently the county seat of San Bernardino County and hosts a population of over 205 000,
The economy is dominated by the government, retail, and services industries. All together, there are over 97 139 jobs offered in San Bernardino, with approximately 20 000 offered by the government, 16 000 offered by retail, and 13 200 offered in education,
San Bernardino has a strategic location at the intersection of the I-10, I-215, and SR-210 freeways. It is also close to the Cajon and San Gorgonio passes. Inside the city lies the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway’s Intermodal fright transport yard, as well as the Pacific Motor Trucking and the Yellow Freight Systems’ cross-docking trucking center. There are several warehouses located near the San Bernardino International Airport for large corporations, such as Kohl’s and Mattel.
The Riverfront District, located along Hospitality Lane and close to the Santa Ana River, has been the economic development hub in the city for the last couple of years. Several large retailers, hotels, office buildings, and restaurants have been built here instead of downtown.
In 1994 the Norton Air Force Base was closed, causing San Bernardino’s economy to almost collapse. The jobless rate grew to 12% due to over 10 000 people losing their jobs and as a result several neighbourhoods were emptied. The area still hasn’t fully recovered and those within one mile of the centre of the city have a meagre median income of $20 480.
