Bridge crane is a lifting equipment with a movable bridge, which moves forward and backward on elevated beams that are suspended overhead. These beams are known as runway for the bridge crane. The movement of the bridge makes it possible for the load to be transported from any point to any point along three axes within the operating space of the crane.
The bridge crane system incorporates a trolley and hoist. Both these components are also movable across the length of the bridge and are conjoined together. While the trolley moves laterally across the bridge, that is to say in perpendicular direction to the bridge's motion, the hoist too moves along with the trolley. The hoist can be then raised from and lowered to the floor so as to position the load at varying heights.
