The forklift boom essentially transforms the lift truck equipment into a mobile crane. The boom is versatile because it can swivel and rotate, and so gives the operator myriad number of motions to deploy. The boom is usually installed in the position where the forks of the lift truck would have been present. The boom is built to different lengths and specifications, with an average length of about four meters or twelve feet. Such a lift truck attachment is capable of lifting and handling load of up to 1.3 tons or about 3,000 pounds.
